How to check for DNS leaks

Your public IP and DNS resolution are separate information paths. A changed public IP does not automatically mean that DNS requests use the same route.

  1. Confirm the public IP first

    Connect to the required route and run the lookup on this page again. Confirm that the IP and location match the selected exit region. If nothing changes, check the client connection status and split-routing rules first.

  2. Check system DNS settings

    Check whether your operating system, browser, and client have separate DNS settings. When DNS services are specified in multiple places, use the configuration that is actually active and avoid treating an old setting as the current route configuration.

  3. Compare the route and DNS region

    Use a trusted DNS testing method to identify the network associated with the DNS servers, then compare it with the public IP region shown on this page. If DNS requests continue to use the local network, check the client’s DNS handling and split-routing options.

  4. Clear the cache and check again

    After changing DNS settings, close pages that still use the old connection, clear the system or browser DNS cache, reconnect, and check again. Until the cache updates, previous results may still appear briefly.
